Still tinkering away at the Urban Wizard Sets for the Occult Terrors line-above is a test build of The Amazing Zandi and his flying carpet basing option!

The make up of the wizard sets are leaning more towards a 'mini-set' of sorts, with the magic user (casting and non casting), one large adversary or a couple of standard sized enemies, and a mini diorama. They will also include the new 'Occult Stone' texture bases.

The next set in the SURVIVAL HORROR series will be in a slightly different format to the previous sets. This will contain human characters only, with no zombies etc as in previous sets.

SQUAD LEADER

The set will provisionally contain two six man extraction teams consisting of: 1 X SQUAD LEADER, 1 X TROOPER WITH FLAMETHROWER and 4 X TROOPER WITH MACHINE GUN in two colourways; BLACK OPS CAMO and CLASSIC BIOHAZARD SUIT. A diorama backdrop is also planned for the set, as with SET 6. Release date will follow shortly!

We've been playing around with how to display the ever growing number of minis here at DARKMOOK MINIATURES, as well as what to use as a backdrop to contextualise product images, so we put together a couple of prototype backdrops for the minis to inhabit...

The two prototypes are the Police Station Hallway (top 2 pictures) and Police Station Cells (bottom 2 pictures). Looking forward to polishing these up, and hopefully using them and other designs for upcoming product shoots!

These are two of the characters being worked on for the next SURVIVAL HORROR set, provisionally entitled HOSPITAL OF HORROR. The male firefighter will be armed with a handgun and axe, whilst the female security guard will pack a shotgun and handgun . Still a lot of work to do on this one, but a release date will be posted soon.

The second round of official playtesting for the SURVIVAL HORROR BOARDGAME has been completed with what was essentially the finished rules and board. Following the test, some minor adjustments have been made to the rules, and a major adjustment to the board-a reduction to two levels and less rooms, to quicken the pace! Here are a few pics of the game in action!

The aftermath...

A good time was had by all, and the mechanics made for an enjoyable fast paced but tactical game. The balance of weapons and items seemed right, and the massing zombies added a real air of tension as the game progressed! Looking forward to the next playtest and getting this sucker into production-updates to follow.

The colouring of the Bio-Demon is finished! There will be two colourways, with 'clean' and 'bloody' versions of both. The exact number of Bio-Demons in the set is yet to be decided.

Character Development

Inmate Zero (or 'Jammies Zombie' as he was known for a while) shows how sometimes a character can change very little from the initial sketch. Essentially, the only real changes were to the head and face-this was as the original look was too similar to the other zombies in this set. The finished minis of Officer Rhames and Inmate Donnie were also practically identical to the original sketches;I had a very clear vision of what I wanted this set to be from the outset, and it was one of the fastest to complete so far.

This was the set that really got the ball rolling in terms of theme and style-the preliminary sketches for this set really set the tone of what I wanted to accomplish and are still providing me with ideas! I wanted each set to tell a story, and suggest a scenario just from the content; I think this set accomplishes that pretty well.
